SARK-110: New firmware version v0.8.4 available

This is a major firmware update with lot of new functionality, enhancements and fixes. The new version is available in the Firmware area.
 
For users that already installed any of the v0.8.3.x beta drops, this release is the same as the latest v0.8.3.15.
 
The user's manuals have not been updated, but it has been released a manual addendum (English only) available in the Documents area.

SARK-110: New firmware beta v0.8.3.13 available

This firmware update introduces another advanced analysis feature, which is the measurement of transmission line parameters. The new version is available in the Beta 0.8.3.x area and contains some other minor fixes and enhancements.

This feature allows you to automatically measure different parameters having to do with transmission lines, namely:
  • The line's characteristic impedance (Z0)
  • The true velocity factor
  • The matched line loss in terms of dB over the total line length and in dB/100m
The procedure for the measurement is the following:
    
Step 1.
Perform OSL calibration

Step 2.
Select Single Frequency mode: «Mode» «Single Frequency»

Step 3.
Select «CModel» in the main menu

Step 4.
Select «Transmission Line» in the submenu (Figure 1)

Step 5.
Enter the start frequency (Figure 2)

Step 6.
Enter the stop frequency (Figure 3)

Step 7.
Enter the line length (Figure 4)

Step 8.
Connect the transmission line terminated with an open circuit and press
Select [■] to continue (Figure 5)

Step 9.
Connect the transmission line terminated with an short circuit and press
Select [■] to continue (Figure 6)

Step 10.
After some seconds the results are shown on the screen (Figure 7). It is convenient saving the screen by selecting [●]


Note:
try to keep the electrical length of the line exactly the same between the open and short termination conditions, as much as possible. Ideally you would terminate the line with the same standards that were used to do the Open Short calibration.

SARK-110: New firmware beta v0.8.3.10 available

There is a new firmware update available in the Beta 0.8.3.x area.

This release includes several enhancements to the OSL calibration feature. The main improvement is that it has been added the possibility of specifying the frequency range for the calibration. This feature allows compensating the effect of longer transmission lines when specifying a shorter frequency range.

In addition, it has been increased the number of calibration points to 400, the number of profiles to 8, and now it displays the information of the profiles.

SARK-110: New firmware beta v0.8.3.7 available

There is a new Beta v0.8.3.7 version available in the Beta 0.8.3.x area.

This new firmware introduces the automatic determination of the equivalent circuit of Quartz Crystals feature. This feature is described in the new application note: Equivalent Circuit Determination of Quartz Crystals

SARK-110: New firmware beta v0.8.3.2 available

There is a new Beta v0.8.3.2 version available in the Beta 0.8.3.x area. 
 
This new firmware introduces the capability for the automatic determination of the equivalent circuit of small loop antennas or coils and capacitors.
 
The primary objective of this new feature is simplifying the antenna matching process for HF RFID applications so for that purpose a new application note is now available as well, see Antenna measurements in a RFID application

SARK-110: New firmware beta v0.8.3.1 available

There is a new Beta v0.8.3.1 version available in the Beta 0.8.3.x area.
 
Main changes for this release are the ability to select up to five OSL calibration profiles and the self-timed save feature.
 
The calibration profiles feature will be convenient for users that have different test port adapters. One profile can be assigned for each test port adapter so it will not be necessary calibrating when changing the adaptor.
 
The self-timed save feature works as the cameras self-timer feature and allows the automatic saving of a measurement after an user defined delay.
 
This release also includes other minor enhancements such as the display of the raw voltage and current detector values during Detector Calibration, which can be useful for diagnosis. Besides it includes the screen rotation implemented in the previous release.
 
Many thanks to users that have suggested most of the changes of this release.
